Albert Nicholson Hamill, 91, of Colorado Springs, Colorado died Sunday, September 13, 2009. He was born July 15, 1918 in Halifax County to Ivey and Lula Hamill. He resided in Halifax County for 84 years before moving to Colorado in 2002 to live with his daughter and her family.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Kanoy Hamill, his sister, Flora Mae Gardner, and his parents.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Lamberth Blalock of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandson, Adam Nicholson Blalock, of Colorado Springs; and his granddaughter, Whitney, and her husband Jason Smith of Parker, Colorado.

Albert was a farmer in Halifax County, a Government Grader of peanuts, a Master Mason with 62 years service, a loving and devoted Father, Grandfather, and friend. He was noted for saying everyday was the ''best I ever had''.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, NC which is handling the arrangements. Funeral services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church in Enfield, NC on Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Susan Joyce officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
